When we were small we had a stainless steel mug and plate set etched with the three bears and though only the mug has survived to be used by our own children, we like to think that Canadian company Untangled Living’s ANYWare stainless steel dishware sets for children will be similarly passed down to our kids’ kids.
These stainless steel sets were conceived by Canadian mama Sue Volpe and they’re made responsibly in China. Unlike most stainless steel options, which are limited to a mug or cutlery or a plate, this is a full set including a fork, spoon, cup, bowl and plate. We found them best for kids of three and under, but you could easily use the cup, bowl and plate for snack time for years to come. Like many of us, when Volpe became a mother she became more environmentally aware and in an effort to avoid plastic she tried wooden dishes which were too high maintenance and glass dishes which were too challenging so she created Untangled Living’s dish sets which are dishwasher safe, stackable and durable and too useful. Stainless steel doesn’t interact with foods, is great for serving and storage and no matter how many times it gets tossed off the highchair tray it will survive, battered yet unbowed.
And because these sets come patterned with either a stylized butterfly or gecko, they make stainless steel a little more styling. We like that the plate is square with raised edges, keeping food where it belongs, mostly. And the spoon works for both beginning and more experienced eaters. We only wish that we could fill the cup with warming winter drinks as well as milk and juice, but as amazing as stainless steel is, one thing it’s not is insulating. So which crafty mama out there is going to create “sleeves” for stainless steel cups just like those you find at your local coffee shop?

I have a little stainless steel cup from my childhood that I consider a classic work of art. Simple and uncomplicated in design, it looks as good now as it did when I pounded it on the table at two, demanding more juice. ”Why don’t they make stuff like this anymore?” I asked my husband, when my daughters were little. He shrugged and pointed at a plastic sippy, “cause now we have these”. The last couple of years have brought many changes and increased awareness of the dangers of plastics. There’s a return to classic materials - glass bottles, ceramic bowls, and with Untangled Living’s new Anyware collection, a whole little “mess kit” for kids in stainless steel.
I’m so thrilled with this find. I can imagine my kids using this classic, durable, heirloom quality dishware with their own children, much like I have shared my own little mug with them. It’s beautiful in form and in function. The square plate keeps messy food contained, the small bowl is the perfect size for snacks and the fork and spoon are so well sized for little hands. It’s shatterproof, unlike porcelain, glass and ceramics. The one caveat is that it’s definitely not to be used in the microwave. So far for us, this has not been a problem.
I can’t imagine any of my children handing their kids a drink in a battered plastic cup and saying “this was mine when I was little”. I can, however imagine that a couple of decades from now, this dishware from Untangled Living will look as good as it does now, and continue to be treasured.
I’ve got Untangled Living Anyware dishware on my list of thoughtful new baby/first birthday presents. Safe, eco friendly and destined for family heirloom status… what more could you ask for in a gift?

Our kitchen is filled with stainless steel bowls, spoons, forks, chopsticks, cups, mugs, just name it. Well, a lot of those items, I grew up with. When I got married, I did not have a registry or asked for any gifts, so my kitchen looked pretty bare. When my mom came to help us out with our first child, she looked at our kitchen, and her jaw dropped. That’s when the nagging started, “I cannot believe you could live like this, you don’t have anything!” You know how moms are (I am one too now). So my mom shipped half of her kitchen to my place, which I was not pleased with because I am not a fan of clutter. Anyhow, a lot of the kitchen utensils, plates, bowls, were some that I was very familiar with because I grew up with it, or shall I say, it grew up with me.
The stainless steel kitchen items looked as good as when I used it when I was barely in elementary school. What I love about stainless steel products are that they are manageable, functional, and sleek. Plus, they are eco-friendly, something all of us should be conscious about. Most of the stainless steel items I have seen come with a lifetime warranty. From my own experiences so far, I definitely believe that they do last a lifetime.
I wanted my children to have an alternative to the plasticware that they use (the plasticware that my children use are safe, tested, and do not contain anything harmful). After some research, I came across the Anyware Collection from Untangled Living. The collection contains a bowl, square plate, cup, fork, and spoon, all made of stainless steel. It’s 100% made for children, but you’ll catch me from time to time, eating a snack out of the square plate. The second my daughter laid eyes on the collection, she loved it (I mean how could she not when it had her favorite butterfly on it). From the first day she got the set, she has been using it everyday. Even if she’s not using the spoon or bowl, she still wants to have the entire set laid out before her.
I love that the collection is simple in design, easy to wash and maintain, and eco-friendly. With any good product, there is always a story or message behind it. I’m a huge fan of stainless steel dishware and it became a permanent staple when I learned all my Disney printed licensed plates were produced with polycarbonate plastic 2 years ago. I quickly decided that safety and quality needed to come first over designs with licensed friends that wanted to entertained thoughts of leaching chemicals into my children’s food. When I saw the stainless steel dish set from Untangled Living I was so excited to review a product that was amazing quality and provided kids with a child-friendly design they would gravitate towards using. The butterfly and gecko designs beautifully etched into the cup, bowl, plate, and cutlery are awesome. Check out both adorable designs – I always love it when a designer can take a practical item and give it a design that kids will also love without the heavy influence of commercialism.

I really recommend this for a unique baby shower or 1st birthday gift. To really get your full value for the product – it should be started with little ones because the bowl and cup in the set are sized for very small hands and portions. The plate and utensils are a great size for a toddler – 5 year old, but an older child will not get great use from it. The quality is wonderful because it’s 18/8 – 304 steel grade and is dishwasher friendly. I have since purchased this dishware for a gift since receiving mine to review and think the design, packaging, and set combination is good value and makes a special gift. How do you do feed your little ones? I thrifted some wooden bowls, didn't want any plastic, none of it was too safe last year, and glass just gets broken. I found a few melamine bowls and plates but none of it was just right. That's when I heard about Untangled Living.

Each set comes with a plate, bowl, spoon, fork, and cup. Everything you need all wrapped up in a nice box, great for giving. Brandon loves his new dishes and we are using them all of the time. If I could make one request of Untangled Living it would be to make another set of bigger dishes. They are just a bit to small to last for full meals until hes much past 3. But on the other hand they would still be a great size for snacks. I would love to get a bigger set for my daughter so they would have the same sets, just a big one and a small one.

The collection we received came with a fork, a spoon, a plate, a bowl and a cup. Each piece has a butterfly on it-- which made DD very happy. We thought that this complete set is the perfect size for a toddler and we love that each piece is so well made. Another thing we really love about the set is that you can put these in the dish washer.

It's a five piece set of stainless steel dishes, invented by a mom and made for kids. My 5 year old and I spent the last few weeks using them in our test kitchen, and we're thrilled to share our experience with you.

First, some information about the product. The ANYWare collection was created by Sue Volpe, owner of Untangled Living. The collection brought an end to her search for a safer alternative to plastic, and "combines practicality and style for any parent with their child's health and the environment in mind."

3. Did it deliver what was promised? Yes, but I think it's more appropriate for smaller hands--my 5 year old might be a little big for it.
4. Is it a great price? I think it's a little expensive but the other side of that is that the dishes will definitely last.

I am all for eco-friendly products, so when I was given the opportunity to review Untangled Living Anyware Collection, I was totally excited. We received the butterfly dishware set, which is so adorable. Sophia immediately reached for the dish set and wanted to go and cook with it. Too funny!
The butterfly five piece dish set comes with a fork, spoon, bowl, plate and cup. Each piece is engraved with the butterfly design. The spoon and fork are just wonderful and easy for my little one to use. Sophia carries the bowl everywhere and asks me to put some cereal in it. The cup and the plate are just the perfect size for her.

I recently received the dishware set you can see in the picture below from Untangled Living. It is made from stainless steel with an etching on the dishes. Mine had the butterfly etched on each dish. They are the perfect size for a child whether it be in your camping supplies, emergency essential, daily dishware for your child or even play dishes they are fantastic!

OVERVIEW: I have always been a big proponent of trying to make wise purchases with regards to our environment. I really believe that Americans, in particular, tend to be extremely wasteful and short-sighted in our role as consumers. For this reason, I love featuring companies on my blog that are making eco-friendly choices available to us. Untangled Living is one such company and I was delighted that I was able to review their ANYWare Collection 5-piece Stainless Steel Dishes set.

MY EXPERIENCE:

I am a big believer in trying to do all I can to help the environment by being a smart, eco-friendly consumer. This is what drew me to discover the ANYWare Collection from Untangled Living. Their stainless steel dishes are fun, stylish and Earth-friendly. I was able to review the 5-piece set in the Butterfly design, which included all the pieces shown below: These dishes are SGS tested and approved and the entire collection is made of high quality 18/8, #304 food grade stainless steel. By avoiding the typical kids' plastic dishes, you can be sure that your child is eating off of dishes which are free of BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead and other harmful toxins. These dishes are also available in the gecko design too, perfect for little boys.

As you can see from the pictures shown below, Riley couldn't WAIT to use her new stainless steel dishes! I hadn't even gotten a chance to put actual food on them yet and she was already trying them out! These dishes held up really well when I washed them in the dishwasher and still looked shiny and new. Riley loved the sound they made when they clanked together and these dishes helped to make mealtime much more interesting for her!

The truly great thing about these dishes is that I know they will last FOREVER! My mom recently gave me the stainless steel Mickey fork and spoon set that I used as a child, 34 years ago, and these utensils still looked exactly the same! Now Riley is using them. That's why I'm such a fan of the ANYWare Collection 5-piece Stainless Steel Dishes from Untangled Living. There is nothing you can do to destroy these dishes and they should last through your child's life as well as your grandchildren's lives! What an investment!

BOTTOM LINE: I really liked the 5-piece ANYWare Collection Stainless Steel Dishes from Untangled Living. By using these stainless steel dishes at mealtime, I know my child is steering clear of harmful chemicals like BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead and other harmful toxins. These dishes may seem a little expensive, but they truly are an investment and something that will last for YEARS! Riley is now using the stainless steel eating utensils that I did as a child and I wouldn't be surprised if her children would be able to use them too! Buying this quality of dishes is also extremely eco-friendly, which is another added plus! The ANYWare Collection is dishwasher safe, stackable, and available in either the butterfly or gecko designs, which any child would be thrilled to have!

You know now quite a bit about my new healthy living diet from the various articles and reviews I have posted so far. I have yet to discuss the other changes in our lives that are equally important not only to our health, but the environment. Some of these changes include starting to recycle, using reusable shopping bags, using family cloth (yup, I'll be sharing about that too!), and getting rid of most plastics in my kitchen. The usage of plastics is a very important topic. Again, I highly recommend Jillian Michael's book, "How to Master Your Metabolism". She discusses the impact plastics and all sorts of various items we use (that we don't really think about) cause some really dangerous health risks. I will be discussing more about this later this week and sharing tips on how to switch to better alternatives. However, a great alternative to plastics in tableware and utensils is stainless steel. I was really happy when I came across Untangled Living ANYWare stainless steel collection. This is a great dishware alternative for children.

Sue was so sweet to send me the butterfly design of the Untangled Living ANYWare for Ethan to review. This adorable set was the perfect size for Ethan. The set is made from a nice high quality food grade stainless steel. It is very durable yet still light to use. The bowl and plate hold the right amount of food portion for a toddler....or even an adult. Ethan eats the same amount of oatmeal I do! I definitely feel better knowing he is eating from a material free from BPA or any other chemicals that are typically in toddler dinner ware.

Since this is Ethan's first stainless steel set it will be very special to us. I plan on keeping this set for our other children to use as well as grandchildren one day. I know the Untangled Living ANYWare set will be something that will last generations.

How many of us really think about if the silverware and dishes that we use for our families is safe? I know I used to have no clue. You just think - if you can buy it in a store and if millions of people are using it, then it has to be okay.
Well, if you dig a little more into the subject, you will find a lot of companies that make dishware are making their products out of plastics that are not very safe for us, especially little ones. And that is really just the tip of the iceberg of icky stuff that can be in our dishware.

I had such a wonderful time working with Sue and I love her philosophy and the why behind her company. Sue has two different collections of this stainless steel dishware - a gecko set and a butterfly set. I received the butterfly set, and it is just so beautiful! You can tell that a lot of care and love was put into creating these beautiful pieces. What each collection includes is a 5 piece set consisting of a fork, spoon, plate, bowl, and cup. I love the fact that they are completely safe, and I don't have to worry a thing about what they are leaching into our food. I also love the fact that they stack so nicely in the cupboard, and they are dishwasher safe!! I give this collection and this company a big thumbs up!

What do you think when stainless steel comes to mind? How about great dishes for kids that are BPA free, PVC free, free of lead/toxins, durability, reusable, safe and eco. At least in Mama Ashs' head; that's what she thinks. Untangled Living was created by a mom for her kids as she was getting tired of all things plastic and the issue of BPA was just coming out not to mention the clutter of plastic dishes. Another reason why she went into children products? Because that's where it all begins when raising awareness on healthy life styles and choices. These dishes are wonderful!! The butterfly design is too cute - perfect for a little girl. Sue also carries the set with a gecko design every little boy will love. Of course girls might like gecko's too - and boys, well, everyone loves butterflies :) The cup is the perfect size for little hands, as are the fork and spoon. They are quite sturdy too, won't bend to easily. The dishes are a wonderful size, though my youngest (who is now 18 years old) didn't think they were big enough :) Well - maybe not for him, but they are for a "normal" sized child!
